Our Wilderness

Our Wilderness, explores two areas of peatland in North Wales and people’s relationship to these locations. They include a poet, two conservationists and a farmer. The film reveals the love and concern the characters have for these special places and there is a strong emphasis on the Curlew’s decline in Wales.

The camera work often focuses on a miniature world that lies beneath the heather and intimate wildlife encounters, but in contrast to this, there are moments when you just catch a glimpse of a bird of prey, this footage is shot in real time preserving a sense of reality.

Peat bogs provide a unique habitat for plant life such as the Sundew and birdlife including Curlews and Hen Harriers.

In our film we explore this threatened habitat and the attempted preservation of peatland areas. Our Wilderness highlights how important it is for people to be in tune with their environment if we hope to preserve it.
